Chief Executive Officer

Rick Miller

Rick Miller is a co-founder of Gila Health Resources, and has served as its Chief Executive Officer and Director of Operations since 2004.  He is also President of Occupational Health Resources, a New Mexico-based occupational healthcare management company.  Rick earned a degree in Speech Communications and Business from the University of Cincinnati in 1975.  Since then, he has spent more than 37 years in healthcare administration, starting with Med Square Clinic in Silver City, New Mexico where he served as Administrator from 1981 to 1994.  During that time, in addition to day-to-day financial and human resources operations, Rick was responsible for working closely with local business and industry, including the Safety, Human Resources, and Environmental departments at Phelps Dodge Mining Company’s Chino and Tyrone mines, and the Hidalgo Smelter, to help ensure that occupational health care services were delivered according to industry-accepted standards, and in compliance with state and federal legislative mandates.  In 1994, he founded Occupational Health Resources, a provider of certified, clinic-based, and mobile-on-site occupational health screening services, serving clients throughout Arizona, New Mexico, and West Texas.  In 2004, Rick co-founded Gila Health Resources, a multi-specialty, multi-site outpatient medical management company serving multiple mining communities where Freeport McMoRan, Inc. has mines, throughout Arizona and New Mexico.  Rick has been active in a variety of community service organizations, and currently serves as a member of the Greenlee Community Partnership Panel in Morenci.

Chief Medical Officer

Jonathan Manwaring, DO

Dr. Manwaring joined the medical staff of Gila Health Resources as Chief Medical Officer in July 2017. He is Board Certified in Family Medicine and practices Occupational Medicine and Urgent Care Medicine as well. He received his bachelor's degree from Idaho State University, his medical degree from Midwestern University, and went on to complete his Residency in Family Medicine at Phoenix Baptist Hospital in 2010. He most recently practiced as a Family Physician with Mountain Park Health Center, as an Occupational Medicine provider with MBI Industrial Medicine, and as an Urgent Care provider with UCR Urgent Care – all in the Greater Phoenix area.  He was born and raised in Idaho, is married and has five children.  He splits his time between Morenci and Mesa, Arizona. He, his wife, and family all enjoy traveling, sports, and spending time doing community activities. He is an active member of GHR’s medical staff, seeing patients in Urgent Care, Family Medicine, and Occupational Medicine.

ASSOCIATE MEDICAL DIRECTOR-URGENT CARE AND EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES

Jason Christensen, DO

Dr. Christensen is a board-certified physician in Emergency Medicine.  He received his bachelor’s degree from Weber State, his medical degree at Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine, and completed his residency at Darnall Army Community Hospital, where he served as chief resident.  He served as a physician in the Army and was deployed to Iraq in 2006.  He has worked as an attending emergency medicine physician at Chandler Regional Hospital and Mercy Gilbert Hospital since 2007 and has also served as Chief of the Emergency Department in both of those hospitals.  He has been published multiple times in the Emergency Medicine specialty and continues to participate in ongoing research activities.  Dr. Christensen brings a unique combination of excellent clinical skills, a broad medical leadership experience, and an easy-going, patient-centered bedside manner.

Medical Director-Family Medicine

Naomi Clancy, MD

Dr. Clancy is a member of GHR’s Family Medicine and Urgent Care medical staff and serves as Associate Medical Director for Family Medicine. She is Board Certified in Family Medicine and holds current certifications in Advanced Trauma Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, and Advanced Pediatric Life Support.  She received her Fellowship from the American Board of Family Physicians in 2015.  Dr. Clancy received her medical degree from the University of New Mexico, graduating magna cum laude. She completed residency training at the Providence St. Peter Family Practice Residency Program in Olympia, Washington where she focused on rural health and obstetrical care and went on to receive the program’s Family-Centered Maternity Care Award upon graduation. Dr. Clancy practiced Family Medicine in Socorro, New Mexico, and most recently in Silver City, New Mexico, before relocating to Morenci. She is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Family, Community, and Preventive Medicine at the University of Arizona College of Medicine-Phoenix, and is the Chair of the American Academy of Family Physicians Rural Health Member Interest Group.  Dr. Clancy, her husband, and their three children enjoy gardening, hiking, camping, and keeping up with their many farm animals.

CHIEF QUALITY OFFICER, SENIOR OCCUPATIONAL MEDICINE CLINICIAN

Amanda Gray, PA-C

Amanda Gray, PA-C, is a licensed, certified Physician Assistant. She is a full-time member of the Gila Health Resources Occupational Medicine staff and also sees patients in Urgent Care and Family Medicine. Amanda also serves as Clinical Quality Manager and is Quality Assurance Manager for GHR’s multiple Occupational Medicine Clinics. Amanda earned her Master of Medical Science degree as a Physician Assistant with Honors from Nova Southeastern University in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida in August 2008. She went on to join the medical staff of the Bradenton Heart Center in Bradenton, Florida, before relocating to Silver City, New Mexico to join the staff at Hidalgo Medical Services Community Health Center in 2009. She joined Gila Health Resources in June 2013. Prior to beginning her formal education and career as a Physician Assistant, Amanda served with the United States Army where she worked as a Medical and Clinical Lab Technician from 1998 to 2001, and with WAKO Chemicals, St. Luke’s Hospital, and Allen Memorial Hospital in Iowa from 2002 to 2004, before becoming a Research Assistant with Diamedix Corporation in 2005.

Chief Nursing Officer

Laura Dorrell, RN

Laura Dorrell, MSN, RN is a Registered Nurse with experience in Emergency Room Nursing and Rural Healthcare. Laura received her bachelor’s degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology and General Biology from the University of Arizona and Nursing Degree from Eastern Arizona College, most recently her master's degree in nursing from the University of Arizona. She recently has been appointed the Chief Nursing Officer at Gila Health Resources in Morenci, AZ she also manages the Urgent Care Department and serves as the Community Liaison.

Laura is involved in many community associations including Eastern Arizona Area Health Education Centers (EAHEC), United Way of Graham and Greenlee Counties, SEACUS, and is a Flinn-Brown Fellow with the Arizona Center for Civic Leadership. She also serves as an elected council member on the Clifton Town Council and a board member on the Arizona State Medical Board.

Laura is a third-generation Arizonian living in the copper mining region of Clifton-Morenci. Dedicated to local issues, small businesses, and the community, she has co-founded a nonprofit called the Community Health Assistance Program that helps serve the people of Greenlee County. Laura loves serving her community and chooses to live in her hometown where the biggest asset is the wonderful people
